Commentary Guide Revision In Progress
Published June 11, 2009 Resource Guides ClosedTags: Commentaries
Some of the most popular resource guides produced by the Buswell Library are our commentary guides. These booklets (one for the New Testament and one for the Old Testament) are simply lists of commentaries on each book of the Bible that the Library recommends for students doing exegetical work. It has been several years since these lists have been updated, so it is definitely time to update them with the latest and greatest commentaries.
However, in addition to acknowledging recent publications, the commentary guides are also going to get a bit of a face lift. In print, rather than producing booklets, the Library will publish individual sheets on each book or group of books (e.g. 1st & 2nd Timothy and Titus, which are most often treated together). Most users only need the guide for a single book of the Bible at a time and so the rest of the paper in the booklet is often wasted. The individual sheets will allow you to easily grab only information you need at the moment. In online form, instead of being mounted as large PDFs, the guides will be published as web pages complete with links to the library catalog so you can quickly look up call numbers and availability information.
The revision process is just getting underway and we hope to have it mostly complete by the end of the summer. What suggestions do you have for our commentary guides? Are there any new features that you would like to see?
